The deadline for comments on the Federal Maritime Commission’s (FMC) Demurrage and Detention proposed rulemaking (NPRM) is only two days away and we need your help! It is imperative that the Commission receives a flood of member comments on this issue. This is our chance to make our voices heard on a problem that has been affecting our members for years. The NCBFAA will be weighing in on this issue as well, but the FMC is specifically looking to hear from companies that are being affected. We really need your company to add its voice to the cause.

If you need help on where to begin, look no further than this document. It contains a helpful summary of each section listed in the NPRM and potential questions you should ask yourself while preparing your comments.

Remember, the submission deadline is October 31. They may be submitted electronically by email to secretary@fmc.gov, or by mail to Rachel E. Dickon, Secretary, Federal Maritime Commission, 800 North Capitol Street, NW, Washington, DC 20573-0001. When submitting, please ensure your subject line reflects Docket 19-05, Demurrage and Detention Comments. After filing your comments, we ask that you send a copy to NCBFAA Transportation Counsel Edward Greenberg, as he would like to be able to refer to your comments in the filing that we will be making on behalf of the NCBFAA.
